Helen Mirren selected for cover of People’s ‘The Beautiful Issue’

She said she was “gobstruck” finding out she had been chosen, since she said she never considered herself beautiful, especially at her age, the AP reported.

Mirren said instead of the word beauty, she would prefer the word “swagger.”

“I love the word swagger because I think swagger means I’m confident in myself, I’m presenting myself to the world, I’m enjoying the world around me,” the Oscar winner said in the People cover story.

While she may not call herself beautiful, some big stars do — Vin Diesel, for instance.

“What makes Dame Helen Mirren so beautiful? I’ll tell you,” Diesel told People magazine. “She has a charisma that is timeless. She has looks to kill and always has. She has a jovial spirit. But I think the thing that is most attractive about Dame Helen Mirren is the way she makes you feel. She always makes you feel appreciated and loved. And for that, I Iove her forever.”

Mirren already has more than 140 credits over a 55-year career, with several films crossing several genres set for release this year — from the biopic “Golda,” which tells the story of Golda Meir during the Yom Kippur War to “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” the sequel to the first “Shazam!” comic book film.

Despite being a veteran of the big screen, Mirren said she still gets nervous.

“I get very nervous about the day-to-day process. And meeting and dealing with new people. And not knowing whether I am going to remember my lines or not,” she told People. “I just get very frightened until I get into the swing of things and then I kind of relax.”

Mirren also doesn’t call adding on years “growing older.” Instead, she calls it “growing up,” she told the magazine.
