JACKSONVILLE, Fl. — One person is dead after a crash on Jacksonville’s Southside.
Authorities were called to the scene on I-295 southbound at Baymeadows Road around 3:30 a.m. Friday.
JFRD says a 42-year-old man from the Dominican Republic was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when he struck another vehicle head-on.
Both vehicles spun out and came to final rest obstructing the left, center, and right lanes of southbound I-295.
The driver that was hit, a 26-year-old man from St. Augustine, was pronounced dead at the scene and the other driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
As of 7:00 a.m., all southbound lanes were still blocked as multiple agencies respond to the scene.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
