JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — During last night’s rally in Jacksonville, President Donald Trump announced that a $46 million lease will be approved for a brand new VA clinic in Jacksonville.
Congressman Michael Waltz joined Jacksonville’s Morning News to talk about the announcement for the new clinic.
“But how exciting for our veterans. These types of large leases and large facilities typically take White House approval," Waltz said. "This is 46 million in terms of this new lease in this new facility and typically, they are done within within a few years.”
This new outpatient clinic will replace the Jacksonville VA Southpoint clinic and the Jacksonville VA University off Memorial Health Plaza. Right now there are no set locations for the new facility, but Waltz said that they are considering key factors like parking, public transportation, and where there is a large amount of veterans.
“End of the day, there’s kind of common sense factors have to have to weigh in. And, you know, Jacksonville, Duval County, has the second highest concentration of veterans in the state. One of the largest concentrations in the country,” Waltz said.
