JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection to the fatal shooting of a man during a drug deal.
Police responded to a shooting on April 12 to the 9100 block of 103rd Street. Upon arrival, officers located a man with a gunshot wound who died at the scene.
A sergeant with the Jacksonville Homicide Unit said he believed this shooting happened during a drug deal.
Police were able to use surveillance cameras to find the suspect’s car and connected the surveillance images to witness statements and identified 24-year-old Peter Knox as the suspect.
While being interviewed by police, Knox said he was initially sitting in his car, heard the gunshots and then drove away. However, when police confronted Knox about lying, he then admitted that he and another person were planning on robbing the victim of his marijuana and his money, according to the arrest report. The report also details that Knox and the victim were doing a drug deal when Knox pulled a gun on the victim. The victim was able to run out of the car.
Knox tells police that he ran away from the car as well when he heard the gunshots and that it was the other person in the car who drove away and came back to pick Knox up, according to the arrest report.
Knox is being charged with First-Degree Murder and Armed Robbery.
