According to a tweet from TSA Great Lakes, the dog was accidentally sent through the X-ray machine.

When traveling with any animal, notify your airline & know their rules. At the checkpoint, remove your pet from the bag and send all items, including the empty carrier, to be screened in the machine,” the TSA said in a Twitter post.

The TSA told WISN that the passenger and dog owner was unaware of the screening protocol. She reportedly did not tell TSA about her dog.

The woman spoke with an officer who went over the proper process. The officer confirmed that she disclosed that she was traveling with the dog to the airline, according to WISN. She then proceeded to her gate.

The TSA shared a video example of how to properly travel with your pet so that the animal doesn’t escape and is able to safely travel.
