Tracking Nicole: Closures and cancellations

Jacksonville FL — Check back for updates through the week for the latest on closings and cancellations in the Northeast Florida area:

Duval County:

-Duval County Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 10. Additionally, athletics activities, extracurricular activities and afterschool activities are canceled for Thursday and will be rescheduled.

-The University of North Florida is canceling all classes and events, including online classes, for Thursday, Nov. 10. University offices will be closed during this time. On Friday, Nov. 11, University offices are closed and classes will not be held due to the Veterans Day holiday, but the campus will be open for campus activities and events. University housing will remain open and residential students will receive notifications and updates relating to dining from the Department of Housing and Residence Life.

-All Jacksonville University learning sites will transition to remote operations and will close to commuter traffic on Thursday, November 10. The University will resume normal operations on Monday, November 14.

-Saint Leo University will be closed Thursday, November 10, at most of its Florida locations including, University Campus in St. Leo, FL; and its East Pasco, Tampa, MacDill Air Force Base, Ocala, Lake City, Jacksonville, and Naval Station Mayport locations. Night classes will move online for those locations Wednesday, November 9.

-Edward Waters University will operate on a real-time remote basis Thursday, November 10, 2022. All scheduled meetings for faculty and staff, as well as all scheduled instructional classes will be remote. All in-person activities are canceled for Thursday.

-Classes/activities on all FSCJ campuses/centers are canceled Thurs., Nov. 10, including online classes. The school will remain closed Nov. 11 for Veterans Day. Classes will resume Sat., Nov. 12 at regularly scheduled times.

-The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is suspending service for the St. Johns River Ferry effective immediately through Thursday in anticipation of any potential impacts from Nicole. We anticipate returning to service Friday.

-JTA Bus Routes will run on a Saturday schedule on Thursday, November 10, 2022. JTA will announce any detours due to flooding or high winds as needed through the MyJTA mobile app and the JTA website. Regular schedules will resume Friday, November 11, 2022.

  • The JTA will suspend all Bus service if sustained winds reach 35 miles per hour until those winds subside.
  • Connexion and Connexion Plus paratransit services, ReadiRide, and Express Select services will operate on normal schedules Thursday, November 10, 2022.
  • The Skyway will close Thursday, and reopen Friday, November 11, 2022.
  • JTA Administrative Offices will be open Thursday and closed on Veteran’s Day.

-The Jacksonville Veterans Day parade and breakfast scheduled for Friday are canceled.

-The Jacksonville Agricultural Fair will be closed on Wednesday, November 9, and Thursday, November 10, with plans to reopen Friday afternoon at 3 PM.

-The Jacksonville Real Estate Investors’ Association says due to the impending tropical storm, the decision has been made for the safety of everyone, to reschedule the city-wide networking event to next Tuesday, November 15, from 6-9PM.

-The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens will be closed to the public beginning on Wednesday, November 9. The Museum anticipates reopening Saturday, November 12.

-Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry says all city offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.

-MOCA Jacksonville will be closed beginning Thursday, November 10, due to the impending storm. The museum will also be closed on Friday, November 11 for Veteran’s Day. It is anticipated that the museum will resume regular hours on Saturday, November 12 for VyStar Free Saturdays at MOCA.

-Schools in the Diocese of St. Augustine are closing Thursday, Nov. 10 with faculty and students returning to classes on Monday, Nov. 14. The diocese has 38 schools in Alachua, Clay, Columbia, Duval, Flagler, Nassau and St. Johns.

-Curbside garbage, recycling, bulk and yard waste collections will be canceled on Thursday, November 10. The make-up day will be Saturday, November 12.

-IKEA Jacksonville will be closing all store operations, including customer home delivery and online purchase pickup on Thursday, November 10. All store operations will resume, and the store anticipates re-opening to the public on Friday, November 11 at 9:30 A.M.

-WM (Formerly Waste Management) will suspend collection services on Thursday, November 10. Thursday customers in Jacksonville will be serviced on Saturday, and Friday customers will be serviced as normal. For Jacksonville Beach customers, Thursday garbage and yard waste customers will receive service on their next regularly scheduled collection day. Thursday recycling customers will be serviced on Friday, and Friday customers will be serviced on Saturday.

-Jax Federal Credit Union says all of its branches will be closed on Thursday, November 10 in anticipation of Nicole. The credit union call center will remain open. Branches will reopen on Saturday, November 12. Mobile and online banking will be available.

-All Jacksonville Public Library branches will be closed Thursday, Nov. 10 and Friday, Nov 11. They will reopen Saturday, Nov. 12.

-The Duval County Courthouse be closed on Thursday, November 10. As previously scheduled, the Courthouse will remain closed on Friday, November 11 in observance of the Veteran’s Day holiday.

-Wells Fargo branches located in Duval County will close on November 10.

-All Capital City Bank office locations listed below will close Thursday, November 10 and remain closed on Friday November, 11 for Veterans Day.

St. Johns County:

-The St. Johns County School District says schools are closed Thursday, November 10th, and Friday is already a holiday for Veterans Day. The district says schools will remain open Wednesday with a regular dismissal. Extended day services will operate as usual. There will be no afterschool activities, events, or athletics.

-In anticipation of Subtropical Storm Nicole, on-beach driving will be restricted at Porpoise Point beginning Monday, Nov. 7. The remaining vehicular access ramps will be restricted beginning Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 3 p.m. These restrictions will be imposed for the duration of the storm.

-FEMA will temporarily close the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in St. Johns County, located at the Wind Mitigation Building, 3111 Agricultural Center Drive, from Wednesday, Nov. 9, through Friday, Nov. 11. The DRC will be inspected on Saturday, Nov. 12, and reopen once it is determined safe.

-With the exception of emergency service employees responding to Tropical Storm Nicole, all offices and departments of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners will close Wednesday, Nov. 9, starting at noon and Thursday, Nov. 10. Government offices are closed Friday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

-All St. Johns County libraries, bookmobiles, and book drops will close Wednesday, Nov. 9, at noon and Thursday, Nov. 10. Libraries are closed Friday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. Operational decisions beyond Friday will be determined based on weather conditions. Due dates will be extended and fines will not be incurred during the closure.

-St. Johns County Council on Aging Sunshine Bus service will be suspended Thursday, Nov. 10, for the duration of the weather event. For Sunshine Bus updates, please visit www.sunshinebus.net or call customer service at 904-209-3716.

- St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park will be closed on Thursday, November 10. They anticpate being open on Friday, November 11. Notifications will be made on social media.

-All St. Johns County Parks & Recreation parks and facilities will close Wednesday, Nov. 9, at noon and Thursday, Nov. 10, until the duration of the weather event. This includes but is not limited to athletic playing fields, passive parks, boat ramps, playgrounds, fishing piers, and the St. Johns County Golf Course. Beachfront parks and walkovers will also be closed during this time. Parks and facilities will reopen when safety inspections have been completed and weather conditions allow.

-The City of St. Augustine has canceled the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Project S.W.I.N.G. on Friday, November 11 due to the forecasted impacts of Tropical Storm Nicole. Currently, an alternative date has not been scheduled.

-St. Johns County has suspended household garbage, recycling, and yard debris collection schedules on Thursday, Nov. 10, with normal service resuming Friday, Nov. 11. Residents originally scheduled for Thursday collection will have service on Saturday, Nov. 12.

-WM (Formerly Waste Management) will suspend service in St. Johns County on Thursday, November 10. Thursday customers will be serviced on Saturday and Friday customers will be serviced as normal.

-Capital City Bank will close its Hastings office on Thursday, November 10 due to Nicole. The office will remain closed through the Veterans Day holiday.

-Wells Fargo branches located in St. Johns County will close on November 10.

Clay County:

-The Clay County School District is closing schools and district offices Thursday, November 10th. The district is already closed Friday, November 11th for Veterans Day.

-Clay County says the Veteran’s Day at Camp Blanding event this Friday has been canceled.

-The Department of Health in Clay County will close for Tropical Storm Nicole on Thursday, November 10 and remain closed for Veteran’s Day Friday, November 11th. Offices will reopen Monday, November 14th.

-WM (Formerly Waste Management) will suspend service in Clay County on Thursday, November 10. Thursday customers will be serviced on Friday, and Friday customers will be serviced on Saturday.

-Capital City Bank will close its Keystone Heights office on Thursday, November 10 due to Nicole. The office will remain closed through the Veterans Day holiday.

-All county offices, including the County Administration Building, the Courthouse, the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency services, and libraries will be closed Thursday, November 10th, and will remain closed through Friday.

-Wells Fargo branches located in Clay County will close on November 10.

Nassau County:

-Nassau County School District will be closed November 10th. All afterschool activities November 9th and 10th.

-WM (Formerly Waste Management) will suspend service in Nassau County on November 10. Thursday customers will be serviced on Friday, and Friday customers will be serviced on Saturday.

-Nassau County administrative offices will be closed Thursday. The Nassau County Supervisor of Elections Office and Canvasing Board will continue operations as previously scheduled. Public access for election activities remains open.

-Wells Fargo branches located in Nassau County will close on November 10.

Baker County:

-Baker County School District will be closed Thursday, November 10. There will be no extracurricular activities on November 10. The B.C.H.S. Wildcat Football playoff game is still scheduled to be played Friday evening at Memorial Stadium.

-WM (Formerly Waste Management) will suspend service in Baker County on November 10. Thursday customers will be serviced on Friday, and Friday customers will be serviced on Saturday.

-Wells Fargo branches located in Baker County will close on November 10.
